Q. “How come closing dates in the 2008 application booklet are not listed?

A. Official season dates and quotas are not established until late April by the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission.  This is after the effects of the winter on the big game populations are generally known. The opening dates are listed as tentative in the application booklet and rarely change.  You can use closing dates from the previous year as a guideline, and while most of the closing dates will be similar, there will always be a few changes. Generally you can figure that almost all antelope and elk seasons will run two weeks or more.  Most deer seasons are two weeks, but there are some areas with longer seasons and a few are shorter. The previous year’s regulations showing 2007 seasons and quotas are on the Game and Fish Web site, http://gf.state.wy.us or you can call (307) 777-4600 for more information.
